4LOK4 NASMYTH Cyprus Govt RLY 4-4-0

009 Gauge Kit. 4mm:1ft Scale. 9mm Gauge. In 1904 Nasmyth Wilson of Manchester built a series of locomotives for the opening of the Cyprus Government Railway. This 2ft 6in gauge line ran from Famagusta to Nicosia, then on to the foothills of the Troodos mountains at Evrykhou. The locomotives were based on standard boilers and running gear. 'Troodos' represents the pair of 4-4-0 tender engines built for the passenger services. They were very similar to many other colonial locos supplied to places such as South Africa. During the WW2 period they were converted to oil firing and served the railway until it closed in 1951. Unfortunately none have survived. Our whitemetal kit includes tender wheels, handrails and coupling blocks. It is designed to fit the Bachmann/Graham Farish 4-4-0 chassis (NOT included).
