78 two-car, non-corridor units build between 1934 and 1936, the 2NOL classification meaning that they had no lavatories. The underframes were new S.R. standard 62ft electric ones as used in the 3SUBS, but the bodies were second hand, coming from ex LSWR 48ft Third and 44ft Firsts built in the 1890's. Since the bodies were not scrapped until 1959 and the underframe went on to serve again under "new" 2EPB unit they gave good value!
A noticeable feature of the Motor Brake Thirds
was the coupe compartment, but in later days this was absorbed into the guards van.
The 2NOLs were used on the south coast serving from Hastings to Eastbourne, Brighton and Portsmouth and the associated electrified branches. They also operated the Waterloo to Windsor and Weybridge service.
The kit will produce units 1813-1882, the last eight 1883-1890 did not have the coupe and were fitted with electro pneumatic brakes and underfloor control gear.
Driving ends are preformed etched brass and there is milled brass angle for the underframe trussing. Power is from Tenshodo WB31X motor bogie mounted in one of the trailer bogies or a motor bogie kit working in the power bogie.
Both options are underfloor
mounted. The 7mm/'0' Gauge version is complete with motor wheels and gears.

From the original LSWR electrification untill the 1940's the basic element was the 3 car unit, later classified 3SUB. These came in a bewildering variety, mainly because most were rebuilt from old steam hauled coaches of pre-grouping origin. This kit covers units 1579-1599 built from ex LSWR 48ft stock between 1934 and 1937. However it would take an expert (or the foreman who supervised the actual rebuild) to distuinguish it from similar units rebuilt in 1928/1930 and 1931. Most augmented to four car sets in the 1940's and listed until the late 1950's. Before this rush hour trains were strengthened with two car trailer sets.
The kit specification is identical to the 2NOL. The 7mm version represents unit numbers 1585-1599, which had 2NOL style motor coaches. The 7mm/'0' Gauge version is complete with motor wheels and gears.
